Also compared to my PA 4-14x FFP, both the BTR and the Diamondback are better.Nope not the same factory and not functionally identical...I don’t have anything made by Athlon, but I just bought my second Vortex optic and I am extremely happy with both the quality of the products, and the customer service. Also imo unless you pay over 1400 bucks for some serious glass anything over 16x is actually a detrimental effect.
it is a decent scope for the money in my opinion. Can't decide which to go for.I agree with not needing much power for hunting.I have actually purchased a HD discovery scope because of the great reviews and to be honest it is great but I'm having buyers remorse as for a few dollars more I could have had it in a vortex with a killer warranty.I noticed that, bit of a bummer. The latter costs almost triple the price of both the Argos and Bushnell. I found the binoculars to be very well balanced and solidly built. I might be biased, but that’s my two cents.Any idea or information on when the turret upgrade is happening? Athlon scopes' warranty is voided if you paint it. It is true, that Vortex has great warranty and hard to beat. Beyond that, I would say they're the same. Been shooting out to 900m so far with it on my Howa Aussie Precision rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor and getting excellent results. It's also worth considering the reticle. Scold me if need be, but I would also look into the Nikko Stirling Diamond FFP scopes. Glass for sure is as good if not better than the vortex (diamondback tactical) probably most similar to the Athlon. One of the best for sure. Maybe im wrong but at airgun distances under 200 yards and likely much much closer i think fixed scopes are the bees knees and less is often more. I have Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 FFP with APRS2 mil reticle. It really is a good scope.2. Or do you feel it’s just better all around? They're both functionally identical. We don't know any rifle scopes that are newer on the market. But I have vortex Viper pst gen 2 on my main rifle and therefore I would have a closer experience by having the same brand on both guns.I'm gonna player 3 enters the game. Specifically their 5-24x50 with the Skeleton HMD reticle. Going to order soon I hope.3. Another binocular that has almost the same optical performance as the Argos is the Zeiss Victory FL. Having that same reticle available in that many price points is very appealing to me.If you're shooting in MOA and want a Christmas tree reticle, go Vortex. Doug asked me to review two Athlon scopes for him. Not a bad deal, only slightly more expensive than the Argos considering the sun shade was an add on for the Athlon. Also, the Bushnell has multi-coated lenses while the Argos has fully multi-coated optics. Specifically their 5-24x50 with the Skeleton HMD reticle. The BTR is good for the price but the Diamond back is better-- the glass is clearer at higher magnifications, the turrets are better, it's just a better piece of glass. The Bushnell has a close focus distance of 15ft. It reminds me to get everything right before pulling the trigger. My opinon is, that Vortex and Athlon are both great choises. Glass for sure is as good if not better than the vortex (diamondback tactical) probably most similar to the Athlon. These twist-up eyecups allow you to adjust their height up to 16.1mm.
Vortex , at a price range quite a bit lower than the other two it's not optically in the same class. I figured a scope that offered the same features as a vortex for half the price must be cutting corners. This means you get the same optical performance as you would get from both the Cronus and Ares models. Thus, unless you really want to, the Argos is more than enough. At first sight, the Argos 10x42 is quite a compact binocular. The thin hinges provide more surface area for one-handed carrying, which is really nice.According to Athlon, they use a polymer composite chassis to make this binocular. This slightly better than the 24.6-ounce weight and 16mm eye relief of the Argos. To make it more compact, the two hinges on this model and on the 8x42 model are thinner than the hinges on the Ares models.
