So the saga of Lisa’s stolen iPad comes to a semi-sad close. It took days for my new iPad to restore and then Procreate (the app that I use to draw/paint and has ALL my art from the year) finally starts loading. It takes a whole day for it to get to half way and then it just hangs there. I give it another couple days to try and complete loading but it doesn’t move. So I do some googling and come to find that backup to iCloud is not supported with Procreate. Ughhhhhhh. I still give it another couple days and hold out a shred of hope that it will somehow miraculously restore but it doesn’t budge. So I decide to go through my computer and take inventory of which pieces I exported to it and I find that I have high res jpegs of just about everything I have blogged this year. 👏👏👏 That was a huge relief but I am sad to have lost all the other work that I never published. Still, it could have been so much worse.
About the art: This week was bookended by lemons, I went to WPPI in Las Vegas, I got inspiration from Smilebooth’s Instagram account and from artist Tom Froese. Also, as sad as I am about Procreate not backing up my art, lordy how I missed it while it was out of commission, trying to load. I spent the last week trying out other drawing apps and there is nothing that compares to the capability and ease of use of Procreate. I promise I’m not getting paid to say this! Last night I finally decided to give up on the restore, deleted the app, downloaded it anew, and started again with a clean slate. It’s funny how you miss something when it’s gone.
