Art Everyday: week ten

So the saga of Lisa’s stolen iPad comes to a semi-sad close. It took days for my new iPad to restore and then Procreate (the app that I use to draw/paint and has ALL my art from the year) finally starts loading. It takes a whole day for it to get to half way and then it just hangs there. I give it another couple days to try and complete loading but it doesn’t move. So I do some googling and come to find that backup to iCloud is not supported with Procreate. Ughhhhhhh. I still give it another couple days and hold out a shred of hope that it will somehow miraculously restore but it doesn’t budge. So I decide to go through my computer and take inventory of which pieces I exported to it and I find that I have high res jpegs of just about everything I have blogged this year. 👏👏👏  That was a huge relief but I am sad to have lost all the other work that I never published. Still, it could have been so much worse.

About the art: This week was bookended by lemons, I went to WPPI in Las Vegas, I got inspiration from Smilebooth’s Instagram account and from artist Tom Froese. Also, as sad as I am about Procreate not backing up my art, lordy  how I missed it while it was out of commission, trying to load. I spent the last week trying out other drawing apps and there is nothing that compares to the capability and ease of use of Procreate. I promise I’m not getting paid to say this! Last night I finally decided to give up on the restore, deleted the app, downloaded it anew, and started again with a clean slate. It’s funny how you miss something when it’s gone.

Art Everyday: week seven

So this week I missed a day because we’ve been crazy busy getting ready for Photo Field Trip next week. BUT I drew two pieces last Friday so I’m calling it good. I was focused I drawing human figures at the beginning of the week. I thought I would spend a week drawing people, but hem I forgot about it on the third day. Oh well.”Naked Ok” is some naked cartoon people. I made it because it makes me uncomfortable. I feel kind of stupid saying that because I am all about people being comfortable with their bodies and don’t think that nudity is a big deal. But it’s probably because I’m not comfortable with my own body. And maybe that I’m afraid of what my mom will think of it. (Sorry mom) But really, it’s CARTOON NAKED PEOPLE. Ok moving on. I poured some emotion into Saturday’s piece that had to do with some stuff that is going on in my life. I’m actually really proud of “A Little Drip”. I love the way the hand looks. And then of course there is more food. This is me after all.
