It’s fairly flat with some gentle slopes...The Huesta Creek Greenway branches off from the longer Leon Creek Greenway, one of the brightest stars in the city of San Antonio's developing network of greenway trails. It connects Louise Hays Park to G Street. There is a lot of dirts trails that are smooth single track and there are some rocky areas too. There are some hills, blind curves, and debris that you need to watch for but it’s manageable. The northern end of the trail has been extended for about one mile. There are plenty of trails for beginners and intermediate riders to explore, and if you can pedal up the climb to the scenic overlook you are expert. That RR track is active and a stops on the Holbrook crossing then you are stuck until it moves forward. We got on the trail at Ladybird Johnson trail. With more than 9 Kerrville trails covering 52 miles, you’re bound to find a perfect trail like the Cibolo Trail or Huebner Creek Greenway. It ends in a pretty place near the Library with bridges and trees so the trail is more interesting on as you approach the library. You can access this segment of the trail from the Riverside Nature Center, located at 150 Francisco Lemos Street or through Louise Hays Park.This segment of the River Trail is approximately a 0.5 mile long, connecting Lowry Trailhead to the Dietert Center Trailhead.• Trail use during daylight hours only, dawn to dusk. • Always carry a charged cell phone. It is mixed with paved river trail and off paved backcountry experience.

Parking is located on both sides of the highway; the side on the west has the trails. Trail has not so great houses backing up to it that made me feel a little uncomfortable being by myself with a child so I took my husband the next time I went. My wife walks up and down this one for the most part. The main pathway begins at Loop 1604 and winds its way south for 18 miles along the creek. I went left for about 5 miles and then back past along the boardwalk for another 7 miles. 9 Trail cuts right through the heart of Boerne along part of what was once an early walking path used by Native Americans to cross Texas Hill Country. Start paved then packed dirt off trail closer to the Guadalupe River then back on paved.
It was awesome workout.Note: Per the city of San Antonio's website, "The Salado Creek Greenway shall be closed for all purposes each day at sunset and will reopen each day at sunrise." Additional park curfews can be viewed...The trail starts in downtown King William area and meanders south to the historic Missions area, ending at Mission Espada, the oldest mission in Texas, built in 1690. As most trails it seems safe through a nice neighborhood but I wouldn’t go by myself.
